AmericanRiver Steelhead 1/31/10

Drifted the middle section of the river today with my buddy George. We started of with a bang we thought. The first to drifts we had two grab’s and landed one 1/2 pounder about 15″. All tole we had over a dozen hook ups and only landed the one. There are fish in the system but you have to work hard for them. i still have some days available so give me a call (707-477-5174) and lets go fishing.

American River Steelhead 1/9/10

Fished Sailors Bar to Sunrise this AM by myself. I had no takers today but I did see a Fly fisherman hooked up with a salmon and almost spooled, so I went over and picked him up. We moved down around 150 yards only to have the fish wrap around a rock and break his shooting head tipet.

American River Steelhead 2010 Opener!

Fished the upper section on the American River today with a couple buddies. Because of all the fisherman out today we headed down river about a mile before we started fishing. Dropped out some plugs and within about five minuets we hooked a real nice fish. The fish cartwheeled a few times taking us down river about 200 yards before we netted it. Ended up being a nice 7-8lb hatchery buck. There seems to be a few adult fish in the system with more to come! Lets go get em!

American River Steelhead 2010 Outlook

Fished the American River in late Oct. in the middle section for Steelhead. Half-pounder bite was “so-so”, looking forward to a great opener in Jan. I’ve heard a few reports of fish up to 7lbs already being caught in the system.
